Each year we divert over 250 million items away from disposal

The new in-store and online clothing bank solution by Salvation Army Trading Company

Our nationwide infrastructure enables us to respond quickly and eliminate costs for our partners, while at the same time protecting the environment. We work with supermarkets, local authorities, hotel chains, schools, manufacturers, retailers and many more organisations of all sizes.

SATCoL collects around 67,000 tonnes of textiles each year and encourages members of the public to reuse and recycle via its network of charity shops, donation centres and clothing banks. Each year we reuse and recycle around 250 million items; clothing, homeware, furniture, electrical items, toys, games – the list goes on. By extending the useful life of products, we are making a positive contribution to reducing unnecessary waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and raising vital funds for our charity work.

Stephen Morris case study

Stephen Morris Shipping specialises in household removal and storage, and antiques shipping. The company prides itself on its professionalism and has a reputation for taking the utmost care with clients’ most valued possessions, during moves which have included Prime Ministers departing from No 10 Downing Street, and the relocations of rock stars and even royalty.

However, the company regularly has to dispose of unwanted items. Managing Director Stephen Morris, concerned that too much was being sent to landfill, contacted us, and we were delighted to take the problem off his hands rapidly and efficiently.

Stephen says:

“The way The Salvation Army reacts to our request to come and collect things is like no other charity we’ve ever dealt with. Nothing is too much trouble.”
