Monday 4th April, saw the latest edition to the Drop and Shop counters at Morrisons in Failsworth, Manchester store.

Make it stand out

Mandy the Community Champion lead shared: “This will have a massive impact on the community. Everyone knows everyone and customers have been coming here for years. They trust us as a supermarket and community champions so The Salvation Army drop off will be really good for the store. It’s a really positive addition.”

This new donations counter will not only create a drop off location within the area but also a touch point for The Salvation Army. The team can assist with any help members of the community may need. In addition to providing further community support, the partnership will raise vital funds and support the Charity’s work across the UK and Ireland. The Salvation Army provide practical help for people in need, such as specialist support for survivors and potential victims of modern slavery, refugees, shelter for those experiencing homelessness and so much more.

Janet Cooper, Store Manager said, “We’ve already had donations. We’ve had so much interest from customers and Morrisons staff. It is easy access with the car park and you can use a trolley to transport your goods from the car to the counter. By visiting us you get that personal touch.”

The Salvation Army Trading Company collects around 50,000 tonnes of textiles each year and thanks to the generosity of members of the public, we are able to reuse and repurpose these donations. Each year SATCoL divert over 250 million items to good causes. Our work is shaping the circular economy and creating the change we would like to see.
